The Mayor of Urhoboland and Head of the Association of Urhobo Mayoral Family Crown (AUMFC), Eshanekpe Israel, widely known as Mayor Akpodoro, has been conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree by the American Management University (USA). The award was presented in partnership with the Great Achievers Initiatives for Youth and Community Development (GAIYD).
The ceremony, held over the weekend in Abuja, celebrated Mayor Akpodoro’s longstanding contributions to business growth, youth empowerment, and constructive engagement with government institutions at various levels.
According to the award organizers, his consistent track record in nation-building and community development made him a deserving recipient.
In the official citation, the institution described Mayor Akpodoro as a “bridge builder” whose influence has inspired young people across Urhoboland, Nigeria, and beyond.
The citation highlighted his role in challenging negative stereotypes about youth productivity and promoting positive values through mentorship and empowerment initiatives.
“Your Excellency, we hereby confer upon you our Honorary Doctorate Award in recognition of your hard work, patriotism, youth and elderly empowerment, job creation, and your commitment to developmental initiatives. We are proud to induct you into our Hall of Fame today. Congratulations,” the institution declared.
Responding to the honour, the newly decorated Dr. Akpodoro expressed deep appreciation to the university, stating that the award will further motivate him to expand his philanthropic and humanitarian efforts.
“I stand firmly with the Nigerian state, and nothing will deter my loyalty to this nation. I am proudly Nigerian,” he said. “The visionary leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, contributed immensely to this honour. I remain grateful to the Renewed Hope Agenda team and all who are working for a better Nigeria.”
He described the day as a milestone for himself and his family, dedicating the award to the Urhobo nation, the management and board of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd. (TSSNL), as well as his friends, associates, and supporters across the world.
