The Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio has been allegedly snubbed by the Niger Delta Warlord, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias, Tompolo when he visited the creek to persuade him to withdraw his 7-day ultimatum over the inauguration of the NDDC substantive board on Thursday.
A source told Congress that the Minister failed to cajole Tompolo to truce as he was snubbed and asked to go back and inaugurate the NDDC board without further delay.
Another source said the minister’s visit was to induce Tompolo, a replica of what he did to divide ranks of members and leaders of the Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, to back down from their planned protest,
but the offers were rejected.
Congress gathered that Tompolo insisted he will not withdrew his 7-day ultimatum, adding that his resolves should not be treated with levity.
It was learnt that the minister was asked to go back briefly after his visit to Oporoza community to appeal with Tompolo to back down his ultimatum.
However, the minister plea to allow the sole administrator to run the commission, pending the conclusion of the forensic audits was also rejected.
