Delta North senator-elect and Chairman Project Tourism Africa, Prince Ned Nwoko, warmly welcomed Mr Cuthbert Ncube, Chairman of the African Tourism Board (ATB), and his esteemed Executive team to his residence in Abuja, on Wednesday, 10 May, marking the beginning of a significant meeting.
The senator-elect graciously shared his unwavering passion for tourism with his distinguished guests, showcasing his unwavering dedication to promoting tourism development in Nigeria and the wider African continent. Drawing attention to his notable initiatives such as Project Tourism and the Tour Africa Lottery, Nwoko highlighted their transformative potential in invigorating the tourism sector.
During the engaging discussion, Nwoko reassured the ATB team of his unwavering commitment to renew and sustain the government’s interest in fostering an enabling environment for tourism to flourish within Nigeria. Recognizing the critical role of addressing the prevailing security challenges, he expressed his determination to tackle these issues head-on to create a safer and more secure environment for both local and international tourists. The senator-elect firmly believes that a secure nation lays the foundation for a thriving tourism industry.
Underscoring his vision for Africa, Nwoko articulated the importance of positioning the continent as the preferred destination for African travelers. He eloquently emphasized the abundance of captivating locations and hidden gems scattered throughout the diverse landscapes of Africa.
To facilitate this vision, he shed light on the Tour Africa Lottery, an innovative scheme that enables Africans to partake in a lottery and stand a chance to win transformative travel experiences to captivating tourism destinations within Africa. Through this initiative, Senator Ned Nwoko seeks to ignite a sense of adventure and exploration among Africans while bolstering tourism growth across the continent.
Responding to Nwoko’s impassioned remarks, Mr Cuthbert Ncube, Chairman of the African Tourism Board, concurred on the significance of effective collaboration between the government, civil societies, and the ATB to drive tourism development in Africa.
