THE OBI CUBANA EPISODE IN OBA
Having read a story credited to the Oba born billionair and philanthropist, Obi Iyiegbu a.k.a OBI CUBANNA, I was convinced beyond reasonable doubt that he is God sent for this generation.
Before you start raining abuses on me for supporting the way our currency was handled at the mother’s burial last weekend, I wish to state clearly that it is not the reason for this piece but the philanthropic disposition of the billionaire hospitality mogul.
One aspect of his story that touched me most was the aspect of giving without recourse to religion, tribe, age, education, political affiliation or background. He said he has raised many to become men of repute in our society and he is willing to help more people going forward. He will soon be empowering 300 Oba youths with 1million naira each. Imagine…
He have so many of his type even in Delta State but I won’t blame them for not helping because that may not be their calling.
Imagine if Obi Cubanna is a politician from Delta State the kind of question and interview you will be subjected to before you will, be empowered.
Let’s take a look at this.
A committee will be set up first.
Those in the Committee will be members of the political party of the politician who want to render assistance.
Set up another committee that will supervise the first committee.
Announcement will now be made.
They will receive entries and set aside certain percentage for party leaders to give to their loyalists
The political leaders will set up another committee at the ward level to screen those that will benefit from the slot given to the leaders.
Sycophants and boot leakers will come up with their evil machinery, blackmailing and assassinating characters of perceived competitors to gain favour.
They form another sub committee of Sycophants who will deal decisively on those who may want to come to the ward leaders for help.
Let me go straight to the matter.
Mind you I am talking about all the parties in the state.
Look at the screening at the ward level after the entries
Who is this person?
Leader, his name is Michael Ikeogwu, the son of Isichei, the son of Ikeogwu.
He is that arrogant fellow that came here last Saturday.
He talks so bad about our party.
That boy, he is full of himself and thinks he knows it all.
Though he has some good part but he won’t be loyal to anybody.
During the last campaign he showed up in some campaigns but we also saw him in the home of the other political leader.
Even though we all belong to the same political party, you know we are not in the same camp with that man now…..
Not only that sir, we saw him on Saturday in the opposition house.
What took you there my friend? The leader will ask.
Have you forgotten that you asked us to once in a while visit the opposition as spies to see some of our people playing anti party?
Michael is engaging in anti party.
Leader that is not the only thing ooooo.
You remember in 1977, his grandfather worked against our party then. Empowering him will mean empowering our enemy.
Ok let’s leave him, he is not qualified for this in spite of the sterling qualities in him we will not give him. He will suffer.
MIND YOU THEY ARE NOT GOD
They will call another, JOHNSON OKOH.
Which party does he belong?
He is in the opposition.
Please leave him there.
He will not gain anything from our party.
Yes, the next person.
His name is Ken Smith.
Is he loyal?
Yes he is.
Are you sure?
Yes now, he was the one that did that billboard during your campaign and was also among those that moved the ballot box from…..you know.
Yes, yes!
Who is his political leader at the ward level?
Mr. Godwin.
Please call him and find out.
Gring, gring, hello Sir, is Ken loyal?
Yes, he is.
Is he supporting so so so and so leader at the helm of affairs?
They will go further to ask those from your area…
Is he loyal?
Which party is his mother, father, brother and sister?
Twenty years ago his grandfather worked against our ambition we will not empower him.
How long shall will we continue to carryover enmity because of one problem before now.
Let’s learn to forgive and empower those who come our way.
One thing is clear no one politician or rich man will remain on top forever. Remember there were people up there before you. The God that brought them down and raised you is still alive. He can still, and will still raise another.
Those trampling on others because of the position they occupy today must realize that there is limit to their rascality. Learn to be humble. Rather than being an instrument to the downfall of another, be a ladder for them to go to the top.
Obi Cubanna has set the pace and model for empowerment. Empower without expectation for one day those you empower will end up giving back and make you more fulfilled than when you accumulate your wealth bury it or take it to foreign land.
Let’s join hand to build a better society for children yet unborn.
I will leave you with a philosophical saying of a South African reggae sage, Lucky Dube, “BE NICE TO THE PEOPLE YOU MEET THEM ON YOUR WAY TO THE TOP OF THE LADDER BECAUSE YOU WILL MEET THEM ON YOUR WAY DOWN.”
HAPPY EID-EL- KABIR PALS
I remain Comrade Michael Ikeogwu
