The Palace of the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku has vowed to press ahead with the enforcement of the recent High Court judgment granting the Obi a Certificate of Possession over lands stretching from the back of Delta State Polytechnic to Edo Ogwashi-Uku Road, despite smear campaigns and distractions by illegal land sellers.
Smear Tactics Exposed
In recent days, land speculators staged a false video involving a faceless woman who has since been identified by law enforcement officers and attempted to organize protests to discredit the judgment.
Both efforts failed as community members refused to be misled. Intelligence reports point to the involvement of a police inspector, a serving police officer at the Ogwashi-Uku area command who allegedly collected millions to stage the botched protest. Police authorities have been briefed, and justice is expected to follow.
Palace sources further revealed that one of the culprits is in the Ogwashi-Uku Correctional Center for armed land sales, while his lawyer is currently facing terrorism charges in Asaba.
“These are not community activists but criminal elements covering up fraudulent land sales,” the palace stated. The inspector’s brother was caught with an AK 47 rifles at the land behind the polytechnic in a police uniform. These are the calibre of people l, dangerous individuals we are dealing with.
Recovery and Future Safeguards
So far, 26 large estates covering hundreds of hectares have been recovered. The Obi confirmed that after the exercise, Trusts will be set up for each affected community, with guarantees to preserve land for future generations so that “our children will always have land to build, live, and prosper.” He also assured that genuine farmers will not be affected by the recovery.
Palace’s Firm Stand
The Palace stressed that the recovery is lawful, irreversible, and court-sanctioned, warning that anyone who trespasses or obstructs the process will face the full weight of the law.
“The judgment is clear,” the palace declared. “No amount of blackmail, smear campaigns, or criminal sabotage will stop Ogwashi-Uku from reclaiming its heritage.”
