Onishe of Ubulu-Uku and traditional prime minister, Hon. (High Chief) James Asika Onwordi Ibori Ubulu, has categorically dismissed reports of his suspension, describing the claims as false, fraudulent, and without any legal or traditional foundation.
The alleged suspension was contained in a letter reportedly signed by one G. U. Ofulue. Chief Onwordi swiftly discredited the document, stressing that Ofulue is not, and has never been, recognized as the Palace Secretary or Secretary to the Obi in Council of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom.
“The so-called suspension is baseless and lacks merit,” Chief Onwordi declared in a statement, noting that his office is not only enshrined in tradition but also protected under the Traditional Rulers and Chiefs Law, 2008, Laws of Delta State.
He emphasized that Section 28(1)(2)(3) of the law clearly stipulates the procedure for suspending a chief—a procedure that was entirely ignored in this case. “This renders the so-called suspension invalid, null, and void,” he stated.
Chief Onwordi further pointed out that the purported letter is unknown to the Obi in Council of Ubulu-Uku, the Aniocha South Traditional Rulers Council, and the Directorate of Chieftaincy Affairs—all legitimate custodians of such matters.
“There are no issues between myself and His Royal Majesty, Obi Chukwuka Noah Akaeze. Our relationship remains cordial. This is nothing but an act of mischief,” he clarified.
The Traditional Prime Minister accused Ofulue of impersonation and described the letter as a “caricature and an act of rascality” that should be investigated and condemned. He also revealed that he was never summoned to any meeting by the Obi, nor was any such meeting officially held—contrary to the claims in the letter.
Chief Onwordi reassured the people of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom and the general public that he remains firmly in office as the Onishe, urging all to disregard the “fake suspension” and treat it with the contempt it deserves.
“I remain committed to my duties as the Onishe of Ubulu-Uku, without fear, hindrance, or compromise,” he affirmed.
