A leading online news platform in Delta state will, on Thursday November 7, 2024, honour 18 Nigerians in Asaba, the Delta state capital
Among the 18 to be honoured are the Vice Chancellor of the Delta State University, Prof Andy Egwunyenga and the Delta State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.
This was disclosed on Tuesday in Asaba by Daniel Umukoro, Publisher of Oasis Magazine, while speaking to reporters.
Umukoro said the Oasis Magazine Distinguished Nigerian Award is billed for 7th November at Opal Event Centre, Jesus Saves Road, Asaba.
He said that the 18 Nigerians were carefully selected based on merit and contributions to the development of society, adding that it was free and no monetary strings from the awardees.
On the choice of DELSU VC, the publisher said that Egwunyenga has placed the university on high pedestal of learning and research, making it a university of the future and first choice to candidates seeking admission into higher institution.
As for Dafe, the Police Public Relations Officer, is known for being proactive and readily available to give information to journalists and other members of the public.
In all, three police men are among the awardees.
He clarified that there was no monetary attachment to the awardees and that it was done in line with status conferral of the mass media.
The event is expected to attract the mighty and powerful in the society.
Delta State Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda is the Keynote Speaker, while Delta State Information Commissioner, Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza is the Chief Host.
The chairman of the occasion is Prof Emmanuel Ufuophu Biri, Rector, Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe Oghara, while Senator Ovie Omo Agege, is Distinguished Guest of Honour.
