The Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF) has unveiled plans for a major 2026 International Women’s Day (IWD) celebration in Delta State and is seeking strategic partnerships with critical stakeholders to drive meaningful impact.
According to a statement signed by Josephine Omodior, Secretary, Committee for the 2026 International Women’s Day Celebration, the event is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at No. 12 Uchenna Okolo Street, opposite St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Asaba, Delta State.
The keynote address will be delivered by Mrs. Patricia Gbemudu, former Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ).
The Forum stated that the 2026 celebration will be held under the theme, “Give to Gain: Empowering Women through Digital Storytelling,” aligning with the global message, “When we give, we gain.”
The initiative aims to promote a culture of generosity, collaboration, and intentional support for the advancement of women and girls.
DOPF explained that the campaign encourages individuals, organisations, and communities to contribute through donations, mentorship, knowledge-sharing, advocacy, enhanced visibility, and capacity-building efforts.
It emphasised that the “Give to Gain” initiative underscores the transformative ripple effect of purposeful giving in strengthening families, communities, and society.
The statement further noted that the celebration will focus on empowering women through digital platforms, supporting women-focused nonprofit organisations, amplifying initiatives that advance women’s rights, and challenging stereotypes, discrimination, and gender bias.
It added that International Women’s Day continues to grow as one of the world’s foremost advocacy and giving platforms dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls.
As part of the programme, the Forum will host a “Give to Gain” Impact Conference, recognise outstanding women and nonprofit organisations, and implement coordinated media advocacy campaigns across Delta-based digital platforms.
Public engagement initiatives and collaboration with grassroots organisations and girl-child advocacy groups will also form a key component of the celebration.
DOPF stressed that active participation from government institutions, community leaders, civil society organisations, and development partners will be crucial in amplifying the campaign’s impact and inspiring broader support for the advancement of women and girls across Delta State.
