Senator Ned Nwoko, representing the people of Delta North in the National Assembly, has emphasized that The Sports University of Nigeria (SUN), located in Idumuje-Ugboko, was founded “with a vision to create a world-class institution that merges quality education with sports excellence.”

He made this statement in a post on X on Tuesday night.

It is worth noting that over the weekend, Senator Nwoko visited SUN for an inspection tour to assess its remarkable progress.

In his post, he shared: “Seeing this vision come to life reaffirms my commitment to youth development, education, and the empowerment of future generations.”

He further added, “SUN is more than just an institution—it is a game-changer for young athletes and scholars across the country.”

“I look forward to the immense impact it will have in shaping Nigeria’s future champions, both on and off the field,” Senator Nwoko remarked.

The Sports University of Nigeria was established by the Prince Ned Nwoko Foundation with the aim of training athletes, coaches, sports managers, and other professionals in the sports sector.

The university’s focus is to provide professional sportsmen and women with the necessary training to excel in their fields while also earning additional qualifications that will equip them to face life’s challenges and contribute positively to national development.

Beyond benefiting the individual, the Sports University of Nigeria is designed to propel Nigeria to a leading position in the global sports arena.

It aims to produce accomplished sportsmen and women who will make significant contributions to the nation’s development.

In recognition of the need to expand access to university education in Nigeria and enhance the entrepreneurial capacity of academic programs in Nigerian universities, Prince Ned Munir Nwoko approached the National Universities Commission (NUC) for approval to establish the university.

The Sports University of Nigeria offers a unique environment that fosters the training of world-class athletes, combining a model of excellence in both sports and academics.
