The general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has reacted to the rape and murder of a 100 level student of the University of Benin who was said to have gone to the church to read but met her untimely death in the church.

The 22-year-old Vera Uwaila Omozuwa of Microbiology department was raped and killed inside the church. Her killing has generated outburst from all classes of people on the social media.

She was killed inside a Miracle Sanctuary parish of the church along Osa Amadasun street, off Agbor Road, Benin City. Reports say she was a regular visitor to the church where she goes to read. Further reports say her parents have been members of the church for 15 years.

The general overseer of the church, in his verified twitter handle, on Sunday night, twitted saying he is set to pray for the family of the murdered student and would also do everything possible to work with relevant authorities to bring perpetrators to book.

He said he and members of his family condemned the killing of the innocent girl and urged everyone to stay calm as the church is already looking into the matter and cooperating with the police to establish the facts of the shocking incident.

Reactions have so far been following the murder of the student. One Steven Olaleke said: “It was such an abominable act, desecrating the house of God. We ourselves draw the wrath of God. Parents teach your boys. May God bring the perpetrators to book, and uphold the deceased family. May Justice be served. God bless you sir. Such a responsible MOG.”
