Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state and his wife, Betsy, on Sunday participated in the Sunday global combined service with Pastor William Kumuyi, the general superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry.
The Sunday service was part of the ongoing Global Crusade with Kumuyi (GCK) holding at the Garrick Memorial Grammar School in the heart of Benin City, the Edo state capital.
Thousands of Benin residents including some members of the state executive council also participated in the global combined service which was transmitted live from Benin City to over 200 countries across the globe.
Addressing the crowd, Governor Obaseki thanked Pastor Kumuyi and the GCK team for giving Edo state the hosting right for the October 2023 edition of the GCK. He said the presence of Pastor Kumuyi has brought the presence of God to the city of Benin.
BELOW IS FULL TRANSCRIPT OF OBASEKI’S STATEMENT
“Our father in the Lord, our very own Dr. William Kumuyi and his very lovely wife our mother and all other men of God who have come with them to Benin, we thank you very much for allowing us to host this month’s global crusade. They have brought Christ to us, they have brought hope to us. They have brought a fundamental message so that Nigeria can fly.
“It’s about to make Nigeria fly. We want to thank God for what he has done for us in Edo state. We want to continue to pray that even though things are difficult now, they will get better. Our government is very much concerned about you and you know it. The little money we have we will continue to use it for the mass of Edo people.
“We must give hope to our young people because they are our future. So, I want to thank all of you for coming to listen to the message of our father in this crusade. The whole world is watching Edo state. And by the grace of God, the message that has been brought through this crusade will save our land. It will bring prosperity to all of us. God bless you all.”
In a sermon titled: Awake, Loose Yourself Lest You’re Lost in Captivity,” Pastor Kumuyi called on Christians to seize the opportunity God has given to them and not allow the enemy of their lives take it from them.
He said sickness, diseases and other life challenges should not be allowed to reign in the life of believers, noting that no aspect of “your life will go down but God will life you up.”
He told the participants that “when God lifts you up, no one can bring you down”, adding that “with the stripes of Christ on the cross, our victory is guaranteed.”
