Pastor William Kumuyi, the general superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry weekend assured youths that with dedication, commitment to pursuing life goals and total surrender to the will of God, they can rise from zero to hero in their life pursuits.
Speaking during the Youth Impact Academy, an aspect of the Global Crusade with Kumuyi (GCK), the pastor admonished youths to look away from challenges on their way up and focus on the goal they have set for their future.
Delivering his teaching on the topic: “Championship at Every Level Made Easy,” and taking the leading text from I Chronicles chapter 11 verse one, Pastor Kumuyi said ‘no matter your past, no matter your history, you can grow greater, better and higher.”
Pastor Kumuyi told the crowd of youths who gathered at Garrick Memorial Grammar School ground in Benin City, the Edo state capital that they could make history, break records and write their names in gold if they could adopt life changing principles of success.
The international evangelist listed certain steps that youths must adopt to make history and change their world from zero to hero. He listed personal encounter with God as the first criteria that will shield youths from the pains and sorrows of this world.
He identified profitable studies, planned success routes, blocking setbacks, proper speech, purposeful steadfastness and productive service as proven strategic steps for attaining championship in life.
He believes that with full utilization of the brains from God and books written by men, the sky can only be the beginning for youths desiring to become champions.
While studying hard for success, Pastor Kumuyi also believes that youths must follow carefully planned route to reach their desired destinations.
He advised youths to block every foreseen setback while minding their words before making any public pronouncement about their lives. He noted: “Meditate before you talk and think about the outcome before you open your mouth.”
In the event with the theme “The Unstoppable Champions”, Pastor Kumuyi said though a success minded youth could fail for a period of time, he should remain focused, resolute and steadfastly mind the goal of becoming a champion.
Using a case study of Thomas Edison, a scientist who failed 2774 times in his attempt to invent the electric bulb before eventually succeeding, Pastor Kumuyi said failure should not be seen as a setback but a stepping stone to becoming champions.
He challenged youths not to see difficult situations as dead end but they should see such as opportunities to work harder and move to the next level of life. He added: “In such situations your prayer should be Lord strengthen my bones.”
Using Biblical Mordecai to emphasise perseverance to becoming champion, he said Mordecai became great and useful to himself and society when he refused to allow situations around him to becloud his pursuit of becoming a hero. According to him, his insistence made King Ahasuerus to dust his files and he was rewarded for his steadfastness.
