Power Substation: Senator Nwoko’s communications director reacts, slams professor over unfounded allegations

A recent article by a professor and circulating on the platform of the Ndokwa Vanguard Network has come under condemnation by the Directorate of Communications of Senator Ned Nwoko representing Delta North in the National Assembly.

The article, according to Hon. Gloria Okolugbo, the Director of Communications for Senator Ned Nwoko, undermines the senator’s developmental efforts in the Ndokwa region of Delta North.

The article, laden with falsehood, accused the Senator of attempting to relocate a crucial power substation project to his own “native axis,” an allegation the senator’s office has described as “a fabrication devoid of any evidence.”

According to Hon. Gloria Okolugbo, these accusations are nothing more than a smear campaign aimed at derailing a project that has the potential to bring the much-needed electricity and development to the long-neglected Ndokwa people.

In a release on Friday January 10, 2025, the Director of Communications further said: “This baseless and malicious publication is not only shameful but also irresponsible.

“A professor, who should be a beacon of truth and intellectual integrity, has chosen to align himself with lies, furthering personal interests instead of advocating for the collective well-being of the Ndokwa people.”

She emphasized that the step-down power project, which has been delayed for over two decades, is one of the senator’s top priorities and represents a significant opportunity for the economic empowerment of the region.

The project, she argued, would bring long-overdue progress to the Ndokwa area, offering critical infrastructure that could pave the way for further development.

Addressing the allegations that the project would benefit only a selected few, Okolugbo strongly refuted the claims, insisting that no such intentions have ever been made and cannot be made.

“Instead of supporting this vital development effort, the professor has chosen to spread misinformation that serves only to hinder progress for personal gain,” she said.

The senator’s team has also warned that the accusers should be prepared to substantiate their claims with concrete evidence, or face potential legal and reputational consequences for peddling lies.

“The Directorate of Communications working closely with the legal department of the Office of the Senator will no longer look away from such irresponsibly. We will take appropriate action in the event of any further mischief of this nature,” Hon. Okolugbo said.

She called on the professor and the faceless group behind the smear campaign to reconsider their stance and align with the broader goal of uplifting the Ndokwa community.

“We urge them to abandon this divisive path and join us in our fight for progress,” Okolugbo added.

She said history will not be kind to those who would attempt to sabotage the progress of the Ndokwa region in their pursuit of personal gain.”
