Read how Big Brother Naija has killed morality among youths in Nigeria

Humanity is always characterized by competition. It is the survival of the fittest.  It is not different even in the jungle. It is either you win or lose. There is absolutely no middle point. Life is also a game, you know the rules, follow the rules strictly and you are on your journey to victory. Also, the human being is a complex being well structured by God to fulfill purpose.

People manifest different character and habits. The undeniable truth is that habits become second nature. In view of this, Big Brother reality show was birthed. The sole purpose is to confine people from all walks of life in a house and see how they will live together and compete for the ultimate price.

This reality show, no doubt, has exposed the depravity of man, bringing different characters and habits inherent in man to the limelight. There is no secret kept in the house as the eye of the camera roams the house. The games are heightened as each housemate strives to outsmart the other. Viewers vote out those that do not meet their expectations and through elimination the winner emerges.

The burning question in the minds of some Nigerians is replete. Some on the grounds of morality have called on the federal government to place a ban on the show. Some do not think the show should be banned. Of course, without doubt these schools of thought are either entertained by the activities; the games, the exposure of characters and personalities and some have monetary gains therein; and for some people, it is just a means to unwind.

Talking about the negative moral influence the show is loading on the youths; one will call for a ban on the show. However, this is a pure reality show, not a movie where scenes can be edited. Moreover it is rated 18+. Unfortunately, underage children do join their parents to watch the show, hopefully under strict guidance. The question begging for answer should be addressed to the housemates. They are aware that there are cameras beaming all their activities to the whole country.

Is it impossible to go straight for three months? And when you fall head over heels with the opposite sex do you head to the bed? Are there no principles guiding relationships? What happened to self-control? There is no gainsaying the fact that moral decadence now holds sway in this generation. Very few people can stand tall in the face of sexual pressure.

I dare to say that this reality show is giving us a glaring view of how low human personality cum morality has been swept under the carpet. For those in support of the show, you need to ensure that you press the button when those gory scenes pup up. And for those against the show, you should maybe stay away because life is a choice.
