By Ambrose Ologide

A naval officer (names withheld) had allegedly demanded that his Venza car which tyres were allegedly shot by the police during curfew hours along Stadium Road, Warri be replaced by the police.

It was gathered that trouble started when the plain clothed naval officer whose identity was not known was said to be driving along Stadium Road, Warri during the curfew hours recently and the tyres of his Japanese made Venza car were allegedly shot from behind by the police in the process, he rammed into other commercial tricycles (keke) riding in his front.

It was further gathered that he was then arrested to the police station. However, after confirmation of identity, the naval officer was said to have demanded that his car be replaced by the police.

The police it was gathered pleaded that the matter be settled without meeting his demand but the naval officer was said to have given a deaf ear to the police as at the time of filling this report.

In another development, barely three days when a suspected street cultist was allegedly killed by a rival group at Akara Junction, Iyara Road, Warri, another suspected street cultist was shot dead in a keke by members of a rival group at the nearby Sido Junction, along the same Iyara Road, on Wednesday August 12, 2020.

Efforts to confirm both incidents from the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, Delta State Police Headquarters, Asaba by our correspondent through test message was unsuccessful at as the time of filling this report.
