Delta state government has been campaigning and warning residents of the state to maintain COVID-19 protocols as recommended by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and the federal ministry of health.
The campaign has altered people’s lifestyle and making them live against their life pattern. The government has warned people not to gather in crowded places and that people should wear face masks.
Till date, night clubs are still under restrictions with  curfew imposed on the people of Delta between 10pm and 4am. The government of the state has never permitted large crowd as it is believed to be the major source of transmission of the disease.
But during political campaigns, the rules are broken. Crowd of people are seen everywhere, campaigning for political positions. During Edo state governorship election, the crowd was thick but COVID-19 was killing people.
Now, in Delta, campaigns for local government election are ongoing and it appears COVID-19 has traveled or gone on leave.  During campaigns, the rules are broken but night clubs cannot hold. Maybe, COVID-19 can only he transmitted during night clubs and not at political campaigns.
Maybe all the politicians campaigning have immunity to COVID-19, hence they are free to move in large crowd but night clubs with few persons cannot gather. This is not fair. This is why people have never agreed to the campaign of COVID-19.
As at present, there is campaign for local government election in all the 25 local government area of Delta state.
What do you think? Is there COVID-19 or not?
