The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Delta state has debunked the alleged and reported clandestine move to suspend its governorship candidate in the March 18, 2023 election, Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi, by some disgruntled elements in the party.
Recall that while addressing a section of newsmen on Wednesday, the State Publicity Secretary, Comrade George Onyidu, said the party regretted giving the governorship ticket to Chief Gbagi.
However, the Chairman, Ughelli South Local Government Area, Pastor Amos Osiki, urged Nigerians particularly Deltans and the teeming supporters of the SDP gubernatorial candidate to ignore the reports, tagging them as fake news.
He revealed this in a statement on Thursday April 27, 2023, stating that the sponsors of fake news on SDP activities are trying to cause confusion and foment crisis through misinformation.
The Ughelli South LGA chairman advised the general public to ignore what he termed as malicious roar”, from Onyindu, describing it as “the last option of making an attempt to suspend Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi has failed”.
He noted that the party constitution did not vest such powers on them, saying: “I know that was the last bargain brought to their table by the opposition seeing that they can’t find their way around the strong petition filed by the SDP candidate”.
“Olorogun Barr Kenneth Gbagi is ready and willing to work with everybody, this is our chance to rule this state, let us come together and work in oneness to claim the state”.
He described Gbagi as a blessing to the SDP, a party whose voice has not been heard for years except when its leaders were ready to use it for bargain for their pockets to the detriment of others.
