An ex-convict, Mr. Christopher Charles, has betrayed his pastor who helped to bring him out the prison by stealing three video cameras of the church.
This incident took place recently at one of the new generation churches in Asaba, the capital city of Delta state.
An eye witness and a member of the church told Emerald News that the pastor and his evangelism group embarked on prison visitation at Ogwashi-uku prison.
The eye witness said that the pastor and his team helped about five prisoners who they found out that they have been abandoned for long in the prison cells despite the fact that they committed minor offences.
According to our source, with the help of a lawyer hired by the pastor to make a case for the five of them, they were released from the prison.
Emerald News gathered that five of the prisoners were taken to their family houses.
One of them who claimed to have turned a new leaf came back to the pastor and desired to be a member of media team of the church which the pastor accepted with happiness.
Our source said that barely two months, Mr. Charles joined the media group of the church, he carted away the three video cameras of the church.
The witness noted that the pastor and his members were shocked when they came to Sunday service and found out that Mr. Charles and their three cameras were missing.
Several attempts to get him on phone proved abortive. When they visited his friend whom he was squatting with, his friend said that Mr. Charles claimed that he was travelling on Saturday night and left.
The pastor of the church, our source said, preferred to leave the ex convict to God.
