The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ede Dafinone, has been awarded a Fellowship of the Institute of Planning, Nigeria, in recognition of his remarkable contributions to advancing planning awareness and promoting professional ethics in public administration.
In its citation, the Institute praised Senator Dafinone as a visionary leader whose dedication has elevated discussions on strategic development, professional standards, and policy formulation within Nigeria’s planning ecosystem.
Accepting the honour, Senator Dafinone — fondly called the “Super Senator” by his supporters — expressed profound gratitude to the Institute, noting that the recognition strengthens his resolve to advocate for purposeful and data-driven planning as a catalyst for national transformation.
“This honour reinforces my commitment to building a stronger planning culture in our nation—one guided by vision, data, and discipline,” he said. “Through my proposed bill to establish the Chartered Institute of Planning of Nigeria, we aim to institutionalize professional standards and align our development framework with global best practices.”
The Senator further called on both public and private sector stakeholders to adopt structured and strategic planning as a national priority, emphasizing that meaningful progress depends on professionalism and long-term vision.
“Together, let’s continue shaping the future through purposeful planning,” he urged. “Because when we plan with purpose, we don’t just predict the future—we prepare to shape it.”
