In a significant development for the Niger Delta region, Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, joined Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and other key political leaders on Friday for the official commissioning of the new Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) State Office in Warri.

The event, which brought together federal and state lawmakers, top government functionaries, traditional rulers, and stakeholders in the development of the Niger Delta, marked a renewed drive toward institutional efficiency and infrastructural transformation under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

In a statement after the commissioning ceremony, Senator Nwoko described the newly completed NDDC Delta State Office as a milestone that represents far more than bricks and mortar.

According to the senator, the office stands as a powerful symbol of the federal government’s commitment to transparency, service delivery, and sustainable development in the region.

“This milestone reflects the renewed commitment to efficient service delivery, transparency, and people-centered governance in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” Nwoko said.

“The new NDDC State Office is more than just a physical structure; it symbolizes a stronger and more responsive institution dedicated to driving sustainable development and improving the lives of our people across the Niger Delta.”

Senator Nwoko, known for his advocacy for regional empowerment and institutional accountability, emphasized that the commissioning represents a new chapter for the NDDC.

He pledged his unwavering support for development initiatives that align with the Renewed Hope vision of President Tinubu’s administration, particularly those aimed at revamping key institutions and fostering inclusive growth.

“As the Senator representing Delta North, I remain firmly committed to supporting initiatives that align with the Renewed Hope vision,” Nwoko stated. “This includes strengthening institutions, empowering communities, and ensuring that development agencies like the NDDC deliver lasting impact for our people.”

The new NDDC State Office in Warri is expected to serve as a strategic hub for project planning, implementation, and oversight across Delta State. Officials say the office will enhance coordination between the commission and local stakeholders, reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks, and improve responsiveness to community needs.

The structure is part of a broader reform agenda initiated by the NDDC under the supervision of the Ministry of Regional Development, aimed at improving institutional performance and restoring public confidence in the commission’s ability to execute its mandate.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, in his address, praised the collaboration between federal and state institutions and reiterated the importance of unity in advancing regional development.

He also commended the NDDC for delivering on a long-awaited project and called for more tangible projects that directly touch the lives of ordinary citizens.

Other dignitaries in attendance included members of the National and state assemblies from Delta State, traditional leaders, youth groups, and civil society organizations.

With a new physical presence and a political climate focused on reform, stakeholders are hopeful that the commission is on a new path, one that prioritizes accountability, sustainability, and people-centered development.

Senator Nwoko’s remarks reflect a broader call among Niger Delta leaders for purposeful governance and a reimagined development strategy that leaves no community behind.

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) was established in 2000 with the mandate to facilitate rapid, even, and sustainable development of the Niger Delta region.
