BY DANIEL DAFE

Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has announced that he has facilitated projects worth over ₦30 billion aimed at transforming the lives of constituents in Delta North and neighboring areas.

The projects, he said, are part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and are being financed through special intervention funds from the Federal Government.

In a statement shared on his Facebook page Wednesday evening, Nwoko highlighted the focus of these projects on key sectors like infrastructure and agriculture.

According to him, “These projects which are being funded through Mr. President’s special intervention funds, will address critical infrastructure needs and significantly boost agricultural productivity across the region.”

Among the initiatives mentioned, Senator Nwoko pointed to ongoing work under the Benin-Owena River Basin Authority.

This includes the construction of water treatment plants and reticulation systems at the completed Ogwashi-Uku Dam in Aniocha South.

He also cited the Idumuje Dam project in Aniocha North, where over ₦7.5 billion has already been committed to enhancing water management solutions.

“We’re prioritizing irrigation systems to support year-round farming,” he added, “along with providing quality seedlings, fertilizers, and farming equipment to our local farmers to improve food security.”

The Senator emphasized that the projects are a result of his close collaboration with President Tinubu and the Federal Government.

“These efforts are not only in fulfillment of my campaign promises but also a reflection of our shared vision for a more prosperous Delta State,” he said.

Earlier the same day, the Senator’s Chief of Staff, Dr. Michael Nwoko, led a technical team to the site of the Idumuje Dam for an inspection.

Speaking after the inspection, Dr. Nwoko confirmed that the dam’s feasibility study has already been captured in the budget, with design and construction phases set to follow.

He noted that the dam will feature all the key components of a modern facility, including water treatment, distribution systems for individual homes, and hydroelectric infrastructure. “The goal is to ensure consistent and safe water supply across Delta North communities,” he said.

Dr. Nwoko also recalled that Senator Nwoko was instrumental in attracting the Ogwashi-Uku Dam during his tenure in the House of Representatives between 1999 and 2003.

“Now, with both Ogwashi-Uku and Idumuje Dams in place, we’re on track to finally solve the region’s long-standing water distribution challenges,” he said.

“These projects clearly reflect Senator Nwoko’s commitment to delivering people-focused initiatives and keeping his promises to the people of Delta North,” Dr. Nwoko said
