Church building under construction collapses, kills owner, 4 critically injured

By Gladys Ekwu

A young apprentice, Emma Imoke, who is learning motor electrical engineering was suspended by his master for collecting a sum of three thousand and five hundred naira (N3500) from his master’s client/debtor to keep for him.

An eye witness told Emerald News that his master fixed an electrical fault on the vehicle for his  client since June last year when COVID-19 pandemic was in top disaster, the client paid the Engineer twenty five thousand naira (N25.000) out of the twenty eight thousand, five hundred naira (N28,500) he was charged.

Our source said that the client who attends the same church with the motor electrical engineer has been pleading with him to excercise patience with him.

This online medium gathered that last Sunday, the vehicle electrical engineer after service was seen shouting on top of his voice in the midst of other church members, saying his debtor wanted hunger to kill his children.

Our source said that all the attempts of other church members to calm him down were futile as he continued to shout on his client, saying that he would never collect the N3,500 again.

Our source said that some members of the church who felt for the client were asking the vehicle electrical engineer to dictate his account number for them to transfer some cash into it but he refused.

Emerald News gathered that his client was begging him to lower his voice, while promising to bring the money to his house that Sunday evening but he refused.

An eye witness said that the debtor who shied away from the church premises while his wife resorted to crying as a result of the embarrassment went to the vehicle electrical engineer’ s workshop the next day and dropped the money with the apprentice as the master was not at the workshop.

Emerald News gathered that when the Engineer came to the workshop and saw that his client has dropped the said money with his apprentice, he flaired up and told the young boy that he has been suspended for collecting the money from his client.

This medium also gathered that as the debtor was busy taking Bible study session in the church, the apprentice came with the money, saying that his boss gave hin a suspension for collecting the money from him.

Our source said that the man who refused to collect the money from the apprentice later did as people in the Bible study service advised him to collect it to free the apprentice from his master’s punishment.
