South Eastern youths react to establishment of new security outfit fit, Ebube Agu

By Gladys Ekwu

Since the South East Governors took an important decision of creating their own made security outfit, ‘Ebube Agu,’ that will fight the incessant killings by a group of people referred as bandits, there have been alot of comments trending.

Our reporter who visited parts of the Eastern states reports that residents in parts of Onitsha are pouring commendations on the Eastern governnora for the initiative, saying it is a welcome development.

A resident of Onitsha, Sir. Augustine Ugwoke told Emerald News that the governors in the east should ensure that the members of the security outfit are men of reputable character.

Sir Ugwoke noted that the recruitment into the security should be taken very seriously to make sure that bad eggs in the society do not have their way into their midst.

” I urge the Eastern governors to make the selected people for the security  outfit to pass through several screening excercises so that the igbos will not have regrets later,” he noted.

Also in her contribution, Barrister Adaeze Olise said that the decision to get ‘Ebube Agu’ was apt while calling on those in-charge of the recruitment of the security personnel not to consider every Tom, Dick and Harry to make sure there will be no infiltration of unscrupulous elements into the security body.

Another respondent who resides in Onitsha, Mr. Sampson Anyika, told Emerald News that the governors should have several meetings to plan on how the security outfit will look like before going further to recruit personnel

According to Mr. Anyika, the stakeholders should device a means of getting a template of security outfits that have done well in their areas so as to plan ‘Ebube Agu’ security well.

Others who spoke to our correspondent said that they have been expecting such development since it seems that Nigeria security is failing.

The respondents prayed and believe that God will use the proposed ‘Ebube Agu’ to fight the menace of bandits, Fulani herdsmen, Boko Haram and other dangerous groups responsible of violence in the country.
