Strange: First born rejects first son position, relinquishes all responsibilities, entitlements to younger brother (see letter to his father)
This is strange but it is true. It happened in Umuahia, the capital city of Abia state in Eastern Nigeria. A first son in a family has reportedly dropped the position.
In a letter titled “Renunciation of First Son Position”, Ifeanyi Onukwubiri, first son of the family said he was relinquishing the position for his younger brother, Ikenwa. He wrote the letter to his father, Chief Rex Onukwubiri.
The letter was dated May 7, 2021. He did not give reasons for his decision. He said his younger brother could take over if he so wishes. He also said he is ready to be the last born.
He is also ready to forfeit all entitlements to his younger brother.
