The lingering crises that had engulfed Tansian University Umunya, Anambra State since inception took a new shockwave as a campus of the University in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area has been permanently sealed by its creditor.

On Friday, the top management of the Ranent Industries Company Ltd stormed the university, sacked staff and sealed the premises which served as take-off campus.

The campus was sealed following a court judgment bordering on the failure of the university to keep to the terms of agreement in a consent judgement reached between the Chief Executive Officer Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka and Tansian University founder Msgnr Johnbosco Akam.

Renant Industries had successfully won Tansian University in a legal battle over millions of naira accruing from several years of unpaid rents.

In the judgment by His Lordship Hon Justice Arinze Akabua of High Court of Anambra State granted leave of execution to Ranent Industries Company Ltd to confiscate movable and immovable properties of the University to recover its outstanding indebtedness.

The court also ordered Tansian University (debtors/respondents) to vacate with immediate effect the temporary site at Oba.

Speaking to journalists shortly after recovering his property, the Chairman of the company, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, expressed gratitude to the court for being the last hope of the common man, even as he regretted that the saga has lasted way too long.

He abhorred dilapidating state of university, and wondered how students cope studying in the dirty environment.

He said having recovered his property, all arrangements have been concluded for his Chinese partners to arrive Nigeria before end of first quarter of next year to revive the Ranent Industries Company Ltd and offer employment to well over 5000 Anambrarians.

The sealing of the University has sent shockwaves to the staff and students who are afraid to return to school on resumption in January.

Some of the staff who spoke to journalists said, they were anticipating amicable settlement of the impasse, instead, the university dropped the ball and Ranent Industries dropped bomb.

There are rumors that the university might be completely shutdown due to the sensitivity of the crises rocking the school in recent times.
