The town of Otefe Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta state has been thrown into a state of tension as 26-year-old student, Frank Ochuko of the Delta State Polytechnic, located in the community, was reportedly killed by suspected cultists.
The incident, which was said to have taken place last Saturday night, outside a particular hotel in the community, has jolted many in the community into fear and trepidation.
An eye witnessed who pleaded for anonymity said that Frank, who just sat for exams, was seen returning from where he was said to have gone to see one of his lecturers when he was attacked by some group of people seen fighting with cutlasses and axe.
It was also said by some individuals in the community that the fight between cultists in the community had been on for some time now, saying if an individual mistakenly walked into the scene of fight, he or she could be injured or killed regardless of whether he or she is a cultist or not.
Another source, who also begged to be anonymous, said that the boy who was killed, was dating a girl who happened to be dating another boy who was a member of another gang, alleging that the death could be as a result of that.
The residents of the community used the medium to call on the state government to look into the cult issue and fighting in the area with a view to arresting the ugly trend.
The police, when contacted, said that they were investigating the killing.
