No man is an island. Man is a social being and needs other people for survival. A lot of people now reside in modern buildings that it becomes uneasy to relate with neighbors. In most cases people live in an estate and have no clue as to who their next door neighbor is.
Some live for themselves only as they engage in some unwholesome activities, pleasing only themselves. Irrespective of the fact that you paid for the apartment, you should also put into consideration the fact that your neighbors also paid for their space and this includes the environment.
Time has exposed some wicked acts by occupants of buildings. These have ranged from loud noises, high volume of speakers and the likes. Some are wise as the serpents and so dodge payment of waste and water bills. These acts are inimical to the progress of the neighborhood and the community in general.
The environment needs to be kept clean. So on environmental sanitation days, some well meaning tenants irrespective of their status storm the streets, clearing bushes and filling up holes as the need demands.
Maintaining a good relationship with neighbors maybe very difficult, but it is worth every effort. This does not imply allowing all your neighbors into your inner cycle but having a mindset of that is geared towards having a good relationship with every one you come across. This comes with a clause though, because there are some people that are best kept at arm’s length for peace to reign.
