I was going to church last Sunday along DLA Road Asaba at about five minutes to eight am. My wife stopped and bought biscuits for the little kids . While she was doing that, I saw a man with a bottle of beer. It’s like the man was going to church and decided to stop and take a bottle of beer before entering the church.
As soon as he took the beer, the shop owner gave him a seat to make him sit down and enjoy his bottle of beer. But he was not comfortable with the positioning of the seat for him. From my observation, he seemed to be looking for a hidden place to take the beer. But why was he not interested in sipping the beer in an open place?
He rejected the seat given to him by the shop owner. What are his reasons. He told the shop owner that he wouldn’t want his church members to see him drinking beer. He was afraid of his church members seeing him drinking beer. He knew drinking beer as a church man is wrong but he went ahead drinking it.
If he knew it was not wrong he wouldn’t have said he didn’t want his church members seeing him on that Sunday morning. He didn’t think about God, he was only afraid of being seen by his church members. I was touched seriously by what the man said.
I thought about it and I said oh this is the problem of the Christian church. This is why many say nobody can be free from sin. This is why many defend all kind of things giving reasons why people should live the way they like because to them, it is impossible to live a clean life.
Christianity teaches man to run from pollution of the world and embrace Christ, and when Christ is embraced, he gives grace for the Christian to live a clean and unblemished life from day to day. It is quite possible for one to live without sin on a daily basis.
All you need do is to accept Jesus into your life and let him guide your daily steps. You can live your life for Christ and be without sin. All you need do is to allow him rule your heart and guide your decisions. It is easy if you are determined to do so.
