Wife of Edo state governor, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, on Thursday said Nigerians needed the hand of God in their individual lives so as to survive the harsh economy currently ravaging the nation.
Mrs. Obaseki also said the entire nation is in dire need of God at this critical time, noting that whether Nigerians and the people of the world accept it or not the coming of Christ is very much closer than ever before.
The governor’s wife spoke during the Global Crusade with Kumuyi (GCK) organized by Deeper Christian Life Ministry and held at Garrick Memorial Grammar School in the heart of Benin City, the Edo state capital.
Mrs. Obaseki explained that with the rising cost of living and the harsh economy, it is imperative that Nigerians look up to God and surrender their will and lives unto him.
“Let us allow the Holy Spirit to transform our hearts because it is in the salvation of individuals that the community, the state, nation and the world can get saved and life can get better for everyone of us. We are striving as a nation, things are difficult, whether you believe it or not, it is only God that can save us and make life meaningful for us”, Obaseki’s wife said.
The governor’s wife who received the convener of the GCK on arrival at the Benin airport, told the crowd that gathered at the crusade ground on Thursday that with the developments across the world and the things happening in Nigeria, humanity should get prepared for the coming of Christ.
She said Jesus will come soonest whether people believe it or not. She advised everyone to keep their vessels clean and pure as that is the only condition that could qualify them to see the coming Messiah.
She noted: “Things happening in the world today point to the fact that the Saviour can appear any time. This is the time for anyone who call on the name of the Lord to purge their vessels, keep their lives clean, put our hands on the plough and be mindful to do things which count for eternity, and walk in the way of God with the fear of God and wait for the Messiah who is coming soonest whether you believe it or not.”
Mrs. Obaseki commended Pastor Kumuyi for holding the global crusade in Benin in the tenure of Godwin Obaseki as governor of Edo state, adding that the crusade would convey needed spiritual deliverance to the people of Edo state and the state in general.
She also said the crusade will address issues “in our individual lives, families, state, and country. At this time of our national life, everyone needs the touch of God, healings, cleansing, restoration and sanctification.”
The governor’s wife who attended the crusade with her entourage also thanked God for the work he is doing through Pastor Kumuyi around Nigeria and the world. She particularly noted that Pastor Kumuyi’s vision and strength despite his age is a testament to the presence of God in his life and ministry.
She said: “It’s a feat that even young people like you and I will struggle to do. But we have a man of his age running crusade every month for years. You know that it is only the hand of God in him making him superhuman and enabling him to do unusual and unnatural things.”
