The News Agency of Nigeria has reported that the Federal Government of Nigeria has said that it pays the sum of N10 billion to one million beneficiaries every two months from the National Cash Transfer under its National Social Safety Nets Programme(NASSAP).
The programme was initiated to equip less educated people to be self-employed, build capacity, help address unemployment, improve the living conditions of the extreme poor and vulnerable Nigerians, encourage school enrollment, empower people economically and so on.
The National coordinator of the National Social Safety Nets Coordinating Office(NASSCO), Apera Lowra, disclosed this at the NASSAP third-party project scorecard dissemination meeting in Abuja.
He said “from the federal government cash transfer programme, each beneficiary got N5,000 every month but because of logistics we pay N10,000 every two months and we have paid about one million beneficiaries across the country.
A plethora of Nigerians have taken to instablog handle on Instagram to express their disbelief on this alleged development.
