Member-elect, Ika North-East state constituency Marilyn Okowa Daramola, has expressed optimism in redefining governance and showing the nation that young people especially women could lead effectively and efficiently when given the opportunity to lead.
She expressed this view in a thank you note published on her official Facebook handle on Thursday.
The post read; “IT IS TIME TO PUT OUR PEOPLE FIRST!
“As the newly elected Member of the Delta State House of Assembly representing Ika North-East, I would like to express my deep gratitude to God Almighty who bestowed his grace on all our efforts. I would like to also appreciate the people of my constituency – the Ika North-East constituency for finding me worthy to serve.
“Over the weekend, we defied several odds and broke another glass ceiling here in Ika North East and Delta State. We won”.
She added: “This journey started 11 months ago when we set out to run a community and issues-based campaign. We came out with a strong narrative to put #OurPeopleFirst. We involved all stakeholders in this project — and today, I am proud of what we have all achieved.
“None of this would have been possible without the overwhelming grace of God. I give Him all the praise, for He has been our strength and support every step of the way”.
She further lauded the people of Ika North East saying; “To my people in Ika North East, who came out in all the polling units and wards, I say: ‘Thank you!’ You all made this race about competence and the determination to deliver, and I am humbled that you have all chosen me to represent you for the next four years. I am inspired to serve you and represent your interests as your next Member in the Delta State House of Assembly”.
“To my PDP family in Delta State and across the nation: Thank you all for standing by me and encouraging our campaign in every way possible.
“Finally, to my team and all the volunteers who helped to knock on doors, ride on bikes and canvass through word of mouth — all to make sure that every corner of our constituency heard my message: God bless you all.
“As we prepare to serve our people, I am optimistic that we will redefine governance and show the nation that young people— especially women — can lead effectively and efficiently when given the opportunity to!
“God bless the people of Ika North-East!
God bless Delta State!!
God bless Nigeria!!!”
