Despite pockets of defection by those they described as non-threat to the party, the Forum of Local Government Chairmen of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State on Monday asserted that the Party was not threatened by the wave of defections, noting that the party remained solidly strong in all the local government areas of the state the state.
This is coming as the forum passed a vote of confidence on the Governor of the state, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, for his developmental efforts that had touched all the nooks and crannies of the state, in addition to youth and women empowerment across the state.
In the same vein, the chairmen further passed vote of confidence on the State PDP Chairman, Barr. Kingsley Esiso and the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborovworie, for their peaceful and quality leadership that had spurred infrastructural and human capital development in the state.
The Chairman of the forum and the Chairman of the PDP in Warri North Local Government Area, Hon. Isaac Wilki, who spoke to journalists at the end of the forum’s meeting, hosted by the Chairman of PDP in Oshimili South Local Government Area, Ogbueshi Dada Okonji, in Asaba, yesterday, expressed confidence that the State was a PDP State and would remain so.
He assured that the PDP-led government in the State has a Governor, whose performance was unequaled and pledged that the party was confident that the Governor Okowa-led led government was determined and will never rest on its oars in its giant developmental strides for the benefit of all Deltans.
The Chairman said the nation’s Constitution guaranteed freedom of association; hence the few defectors, who had no strong base in their wards, were free to associate with whatever party they chose to, but insisted that the party remained solidly strong and unthreatened.
Wilki disclosed that the meeting was held to review events in the State and review the performance of the party led government, from the inception of Governor Okowa’s administration, adding that they were satisfied with the level of performance the governor had brought to bear in all sectors, such as road infrastructures, health, education, peace and security among others.
He revealed that it was the resolve of the party’s local government Chairmen, as the party’s Captains in various local government areas, to meet monthly to review events and proffer ways of strengthening and moving the party forward. He appreciated continued support of all Deltans and appealed for sustainability, even as he assured that the party will never let them down.
During the meeting, the Forum, in motion moved by the party’s Chairman in Uwvie local government area, Hon. Efe Okoledo and seconded by his counterpart in Aniocha South, Prince Mike Okwufulueze, passed a vote of confidence on Governor Okowa for his unparalleled giant developmental strides in the State.
The Chairmen, through the motion also expressed satisfaction with the synergy between the Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, his Deputy, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro and Delta State House of Assembly, led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborowvorie, stressing that peaceful leadership quality they demonstrated remained model for emulation by other States.
The motion also expressed their satisfaction with the exemplary leadership quality demonstrated by the State Party Chairman, Barr. Kingsley Esiso and assured corresponding commitment from the forum in moving the party to greater heights in their various local government areas.
During the meeting, the chairmen gave an insight into political activities in their various local government areas, contending that those decamping were no threat to their political gains.
The meeting host and PDP Chairman, Oshimili South, Ogbueshi Dada Okonji explained that the meeting reviewed various activities in the State, which resulted in unanimous accolade to the Governor, the Speaker, Barr. Esiso, Delta North Senatorial Chairman of the Party, Elder Moses Iduh and his counterparts in South and Central. He solicited the continued support of Deltans and thanked them for their immense support to the party in the State.
