Nigerians living in the United Kingdom are mobilising significant support ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s upcoming state visit to the UK, scheduled for March 18–19 following an invitation from King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Timileyin Ayenuro, convener of Nigerian Youth in the UK, told the News Agency of Nigeria that members of the Nigerian community across the UK are preparing to welcome President Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, encouraging participation and unity during the diplomatic visit.
Speaking at a meeting in Birmingham on March 1, Ayenuro praised the administration’s efforts to drive development in Nigeria, and urged Nigerians abroad to remain optimistic and supportive of reforms he described as necessary for the nation’s sustainable progress.
Community leaders also commended improvements in consular services at the Nigerian High Commission and welcomed efforts by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission to address the concerns of nationals living in the UK.
The gathering concluded with a unified call for a warm and sizeable Nigerian turnout to welcome the President and First Lady during the UK state visit an event seen by many as a milestone in bilateral engagement between Nigeria and Britain.
