President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has dissociated the group from the publication, which described as ethnic cleansing, the suspension of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele.
Iwuanyanwu said that Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has no intention whatsoever of interfering with disciplinary actions by government officials.
One Mazi Chima Uzor, who claimed to be the Director of National interest Matters in Ohanaeze Ndigbo, had issued a statement condemning the suspension and arrest of Emefiele.
But, in a statement he personally issued on Sunday, Iwuanyanwu stated categorically that the statement was false in its entirety and never emanated from Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide under him
He described the said Mazi Chima Uzor as an Impersonator and unknown to Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, adding that there is no office for National Interest Matters in Ohanaeze Ndidigbo Worldwide.
The President General also said:”Ohanaeze also has no intension whatsoever to interfere with the investigations by the DSS or other security agencies of the country.
“Individuals have a right to go to court and when the court of law proves the individual innocent and Ohanaeze is convinced that the individual is innocent, Ohanaeze will take every step necessary to assist the individual.
“In the other hand, if the individual is guilty, the Ohanaeze will be unable to assist”.
Iwuanyanwu, who described the case of Mazi Chima Uzor as a matter of criminal impersonation, declared, “by this disclaimer, we are requesting the security agents to treat this matter as a very serious crime case.
“We wish finally to alert the public on many fraudsters who are tarnishing the good name and reputation of Ohanaeze Ndigbo by making false publications in the name of Ohanaeze Ndigbo for selfish interests.
“We hope with the help of security agents, they will soon be flushed out
