Mike Omoruyi, a 38-year- old Nollywood movie producer and actor has been arrested for illegal possession of guns hired for movie production.
In a statement made available to journalists by Delta police public relations officer, Edafe Bright, Mike was arrested after a search on June 15, 2021 by Delta State Police Response Squad along Obiaruku/Umuebu road.
According to the statement, when search was carried out the police operatives recovered one Lar rifle without magazine, one fabricated AK 47 rifle, one Air rifle, one pump action, one English double barrel gun and two toy guns from him.
However, upon investigation the police operatives discovered that Mike hired those weapons from a 57-year-old man identified as Chief Otuya Josiah from Umuebu community at the cost of N50,000.
The chief has been arrested and he confessed renting out those weapons. Investigation is still ongoing.
