In the spirit of the Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary, wife of the chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta state, Mrs. Abigail Warri, on Wednesday paid what she called independence commemoration visit to orphanage homes and hospitals in the area.
The local government first lady accompanied by the vice chairman of the local government, Theresa Ikrike, majority leader of the legislative arm, Sheen Eloho Eza, and other officials in the visit, donated food and gift items to orphans and nursing mothers.
At the the Ugholeh Orphanage, Oleh and Gilgal Child Support Center, Irri, Mrs. Warri admonished the orphans to know that they are like every other children living with their parents and have same equal rights even as she tasked them to recognize their self-worth and potentials and never give up in life.
The Isoko South first lady urged the children to take their education more serious and believe in God in everything they do.
Several food and gift items and cash were donated to the orphanage homes.
The orphanage homes’ representatives, Mrs. Queen Egbage and Prophet Abraham Great, expressed profound gratitude to the council’s chairperson and appealed for sustained governmental support.
At the Oleh general hospital, Mrs. Warri who was overwhelmed with joy congratulated nursing mothers, especially those with babies born on Independence day, and prayed for God’s guidance and strength in nurturing their newborns.
The first lady of Isoko South demonstrated her commitment to community welfare by presenting gifts and cash to lactating mothers at the maternity and pediatric wards of the hospital.
Speaking on behalf of the Oleh general hospital, Udolu Gloria Ujiro, thanked and commended the gesture of the council’s first lady, describing it as exemplary and timely, given the prevailing hard economic situation in the country.
