A 30-year-old wife, Cynthia Olukiowu of 2, Apogidonoyo street, Jafa Agbado, Ogun state, has been arrested after she reportedly stabbed her husband’s nephew, Habeeb Aremu, to death.
According to available information, Olukiowu was arrested on Saturday after the police at Agbado division got a distress call that she had stabbed the 18-year-old teenager to death after accusing him of demolishing a mirror.
It was learned that a minor discord had begun over who broke the mirror and this led to the woman picking a knife from the kitchen and stabbing the boy to death.
Confirming the incident on Sunday, Ogun state police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed that the allegation about the broken mirror “led to a disagreement between the deceased and his uncle’s wife, subsequent upon which the suspect took a kitchen knife and used it to stab the deceased on his neck”.
According to Oyeyemi, the DPO of Agbado division, CSP Kehinde Kuranga, had, upon the distress call, gathered his men to the scene, where the suspect was arrested.
He stated that the victim, who was met in the pool of his blood, was rushed to hospital, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty, saying that his corpse was deposited at Ifo General Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Meanwhile, the commissioner of police in Ogun, Lanre Bankole, had directed for the transfer of the suspect to the homicide section of the State CIID for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
