Studying is hard work. It is often not fun to seat down for some minutes or hours, reading and striving to understand certain concepts which may be alien to you. It, however, becomes easy when you succeed in cracking the code and retrieving the information. No matter how rosy your life is, you need to put in a level of effort if you want to engage in serious studying.

The truth is that the average human being finds entertainment more pleasurable. Although there are special people who see studying and discovering facts as a means for their survival. If you separate this category of people from their books then their life will be incomplete.

As a student, irrespective of your present level of educational pursuit you need to first embark on intensive study of your personality. This implies the time and place you easily read and understand. The environment you create for your studies will determine how far you go in your quest to acquire knowledge.

In the 90’s when education had started to take its root in Nigeria, when the battle against high level of illiteracy was at its peak, most people who wanted to be educated were self motivated to study hard. This was occasioned by the obvious fact that there was little or no hope for option ‘B’ during examinations. Studying is indeed hard work as it requires a deep sense of concentration and focus.

One key factor that determines excellent academic performance is to understand your learning environment. Experience has proven the fact that one of the major factors that determine one’s potentials to garner knowledge is by engaging in constant intensive personal study.  You may have the best teacher or tutor but if you do not study, you may be unable to attain your dreams. Consequently, knowing your best study environment is crucial to your ability to assimilate information.

Learning is a lifetime task; the day you stop learning, that day you start dying. Forming a good reading habit is akin to excellent academic performance. So you must create that environment that will give you the leverage for optimum studies. Your study environment encompasses time and location. Some people are expert night ‘jackers’. They have the ability to stay awake all through the night, read for long hours, and are as fit as a fiddle during the day. If you have a friend wired with this ability and you are wired to read and get all that you need in the day or early evenings then you may be unable to meet up with your expected performance.

There are numerous locations where learning can take place. Some people can only concentrate in a quiet and serene environment. In this case, a library will be the best location. Some can only understand what they are reading when a certain genre of music is playing in the background. Some people do not mind a noisy environment.

It is important that you begin to see reading and studying as a means to acquiring the needed information that will enable you to rule your world a survival in this present times.  It is important that you understudy yourself and know the study environment that best suit you.
