Former Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, and his former Deputy, Deacon Barrister Kingsley Otuaro, have used the Christmas and New Year season to offer prayers for the success of the administration of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, during a courtesy visit that highlighted unity, continuity, and shared responsibility for the future of the state.
The visit, which took place in the spirit of the Yuletide, brought together the two former leaders in an atmosphere of warmth and sober reflection.
Otuaro, who served alongside Okowa for eight years, described the meeting as an opportunity to reconnect, reflect on their stewardship, and reaffirm commitment to the peace and progress of Delta State beyond the confines of public office.
During the interaction, both men reflected on their time in government, recalling the weight of leadership, the decisions taken in the interest of the state, and the lessons learned from years of public service.
Rather than dwell on politics, the conversation centred on governance, stability, and the importance of continuity in leadership for sustained development.
A defining moment of the visit was a joint prayer session, during which Otuaro and Okowa committed the present administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the leadership of the state, and the people of Delta into the hands of God.
They prayed for wisdom, guidance, and success for the current government, emphasising that the progress of the state remains a collective responsibility that transcends individual tenures.
Observers noted that the act of praying for a succeeding administration reflects a rare display of political maturity and statesmanship.
According to them, the gesture sends a strong signal of unity and continuity, reinforcing the idea that leadership is a relay rather than a contest, and that former leaders have a role to play in supporting stability even after leaving office.
