The Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Communications, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, on Monday July 12, 2021, chaired the inaugural meeting of the Coalition For Media Politics, CMP, at the Old Government House in Asaba.
The group parades some of the best brains in media and communication strategy within the Peoples Democratic Party, PD, political family,
with the objective of generating content, to review/project the performance of Okowa administration and to effectively articulate political developments as the nation navigates into 2023 general elections.
The meeting agreed to follow the direction of the state governor in the search for a suitable successor in 2023, to protect the interest of members and adhere to professional ethics in media and communication strategy.
CMP endorsed power rotation in the State under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and that leaders of the party should meet to set rules and sanctions for the PRA, so as to ensure smooth transmission of power, going forward.
The meeting resolved to defend the enviable performance and good governance strides of Governor Okowa, and to be proactive and swift in responding to misinformation, propaganda from the opposition and to drive the 2023 media politics in line with party goals and objectives.
Membership of the coalition is drawn from the three senatorial districts and new members shall be admitted in August, 2021.
The meeting passed vote of confidence on the Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, and urged him to ignore detractors, and to remain committed to the delivery of dividends of democracy to the good people of Delta State.
