2023: Gbagi speaks of three presidential candidates from Southern Nigeria

Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi, the Delta governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has spoken about the three presidential aspirants from Southern part of Nigeria. Gbagi was a governorship aspirant on the platform of the PDP but later defected to the Social Democratic Party due to issues with the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.

In a recent press conference in his Oginibo country home in Ughelli South local government area of Delta state, Gbagi systematically x-rayed Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Mr. Peter Obi and Adewole Adebayo. Tinubu is the presidential candidate of the APC, Obi is the presidential candidate of Labour Party while Adebayo is the candidate of the SDP.

Gbagi, who said he is in full support of presidential candidate from the South, insisted that there is nothing that will turn his mind to vote for a candidate that is not of Southern Nigeria. Among the candidates jostling for the presidential job, it is only Atiku Abubakar of the PDP that is of Northern extraction.

He said as President Muhammadu Buhari is concluding his tenure in May next year, presidential power must shift to the south. With this in view, he said he would vote for only candidate from the South.

He told the team of journalists that “I will support a presidential candidate from the South. There are three presidential candidates from the South. There is Adewole Adebayo presidential candidate of SDP from Ondo state. He is a 50-year-old young lawyer. He is very vibrant young man.

“In all the interviews he has granted, he is the best man Nigeria can ever produce. You also have my friend, Mr. Peter Obi, he came to us in the ministers forum and asked us to work for him, just the same way Atiku came. Peter Obi is very sound, I can tell you that. Then you have the old man whom I believe ought not to contest election of APC.

“Atiku of the PDP can no longer stand well to press computer. If you people want this country to go forward, you have three of them in the South to play with. But my choice and if you are my friend, it is to vote for Adewole Adebayo of the SDP.”

“We must bring government to south for eight years for eight years and take government back to North for eight years. That is the equitable thing to do. Anything to the contrary is dead on arrival. Anything contrary to that is dead on arrival.”

Gbagi who believes he has all that it takes to govern Delta said he is the best among all the candidates jostling for the governorship of the state. There are four contenders for the soul of Delta. The four contenders are Sheriff Oborevwori of the PDP, Kenneth Gbagi of the SDP, Ovie Omo-Agege of the APC and Great Ovedje Ogboru of APGA.

Among these four, Gbagi said he is most qualified considering his vast experience as a former minister for education under Goodluck Jonathan, his knowledge in successful business management, making him the biggest and most successful industrialist in Delta.

Gbagi has promised so much for Deltans seeing he has a lot in his sleeves for all classes of people in Delta state. Hence, he noted: “If you truly want your industries to be revived which I can do, I’m the man to vote for. If you truly want your schools to be revived and your teachers paid salaries, I’m the man to vote for.

“If you want your hospitals to have equipment to attend to people I’m the man to vote for. If you want someone who will rescue pensioners who are dying, I’m the man to vote for. If you want transparency in the administration I’m the one to voter for.

“On the issue of industry, give me one year and come and interview me again. This Delta state is the richest state in Africa, richer than over 34 countries in the world. I believe with all that is available here, I will turn this state to glory.”
