A youthful presidential aspirant under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr. Chukwuka Monye, has given three basic agenda which he will pursue if he is elected Nigeria’s president in 2023.
Addressing party members and journalists in Asaba, Delta state, Monye said one of his biggest agenda for Nigeria is restoring the dignity of the Nigerian state.
This medium understands that the image of Nigeria has been battered by bad governance but Monye said his governance will restore the pride and dignity of the nation.
The youthful presidential aspirant also said his government would combat the security challenges in the nation, saying he would tackle the menace as part of restoring the dignity of the nation.
He agreed that the Nigeria security system has been compromised but he assured Nigerians that his party would fashion out measures to crush terrorists and bandits and make Nigeria a safer country for all.
Monye, who was beaming with smiles throughout his presentation, told party members and journalists that his administration would reform key institutions that have lost prestige in the country.
He listed the institutions that his administration would reform to include health, education, law enforcement and Nigeria’s justice system.
He identified combating poverty and creating jobs for teeming unemployed Nigeria youths as his third agenda for the country.
He said a lot of Nigerian youths are not very much interested in agriculture but his administration would make policies that would make agriculture an interesting sector for Nigeria youths.
Monye, who had earlier announced his intention to run for the Nigeria presidency on January 15 in Onicha Ugbo, a community in Aniocha North local government area of Delta state, said prior to his declaration he had consulted with people of all walks of life, many of whom were excited over the prospect of a youth becoming Nigeria’s president.
He told journalists that his administration would renew hope of a new Nigeria, just as he assured that his party is designing programmes that will deliver “the Nigeria of our dreams.”
He said he decided to run under the ADC platform because the values of the party align with his core principles of a better and renewed Nigeria.
He said: “I’m passionate about a new Nigeria. We are committed to redefining the future of this great nation. In ADC, the welfare of Nigeria people matters most to us. ADC embraces innovation and technology to drive development and provide opportunity for growth.
“I’ve always had the option of building people. Our great nation is not beyond repair. I believe we can build Nigeria. Our commitment is to put the people’s needs first and deliver the nation we deserve. The future is ours and it is now.”
Answering a question regarding his ability to battle Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Nyesom Wike and former vice President Atiku Abubakar to win the general elections, he said Nigeria needed competent men to take the nation to the next level.
He, however, said he is looking forward to having a robust debate with these men where he would showcase his ability to take Nigeria to the next level.
He commended President Muhammedu Buhari for the signing the electoral act amendment bill into law, pointing out that the president’s assent to the bill is the beginning of the journey to a greater Nigeria.
Present at the press conference were national chairman of the party, Ralph Okei-Nwosu, deputy national chairman diaspora, Kenneth Gbandi, national vice chairman, South South, Festus Igbinoba and a host of others.
High point of the event was the presentation of membership card to Chukwuka Monye, the party’s presidential aspirant.
