2023: The Peter Obi fever and a defining moment for Delta North

A few weeks ago I was sitting with a youth who I know is very loyal to the ruling People’s Democratic Party in Delta state. This youth is one of the most vocal among the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s social media personnel. This young man is ready to defend Okowa with the last drop of his blood. Yes, we see them on facebook. But I received the shocker of my life when I sat with him not long ago. This youth told me bluntly that what they are doing for the PDP government at the moment is because of the little crumbs they are receiving. However, he was blunt to say that they are tired of the system, and that 2023, the PDP will receive the shock of its life in Delta.

He told me that he cherishes what some of us are doing on the social media but for the fact that he is attached to the sitting government in the state, he cannot work against them but he must of necessity play along until the election time. This is a youth who carries Okowa’s issues on his head on the social media, but cries secretly in his private with his family. But in the open he defends the government with all the adjectives he can surmount. He told me that on election day, he and his colleagues are ready to vote against the PDP because they are not benefiting anything from the government, but crumbs and peanuts while the top PDP men are cruising around town with the latest cars, building, acquiring properties with state funds. He felt pained that the administration is riding on their energy to win hearts but noted that this has to give way in the coming 2023 general elections in the state.

Barrister Kennedy Kanma, Delta North Labour Party Senatorial candidate

The young man has been a praise singer of the administration but has nothing tangible to show for all the praises he, among his colleagues, showers on the government of Okowa. I was shocked but he told me he was serious with his decisions and others of his colleagues. But he must play along until the defining moment in 2023. He insisted that the People’s Democratic Party must be voted out and the Obidient family brought into power to bring the desired changes and renew dreams of Nigerians and Deltans. These are dreams that have long been killed by failed and unfulfilled promises of the PDP government. Today, all of them are singing the praises of Sheriff Oborevwori for governor and Atiku/Okowa for presidency. He said that campaign cannot materialise. His reasons are not far. The government has not met their desires. And this is obvious.

Many of these PDP youths are happy that the Labour Party has become a mass movement and the movement is growing in leaps and bounds on a daily basis. Across the length and breadth of the nation, the Obidient movement is gathering men and women, youths, students, old and young who are desperate for a change, a change in the right direction. And they have seen the change in Peter Obi, the man sent by God to heal the wounds in the hearts of suffering and underprivileged Nigerians. Nigerians have been bruised, many are bleeding but there seems to be no salvation over the long years of servitude and slavery. But within the next few months, Nigeria will be liberated from the shackles of failed, wicked, terrible Nigerians who are only interested in feeding their families at the detriment of the larger Nigerians.

Another lady who is also from Delta posted on facebook that many Nigerians are passionate to ensure Peter Obi emerges president of Nigeria but they cannot campaign for him publicly because of their affiliation to these failed and corrupt political parties of PDP and APC. She may not be wrong. These parties have over the years held them to the jugular and brainwashed them to continue shouting ‘party is supreme’ and anything the party says, whether annoying or nauseating, party is supreme. Other available parties had not had credible candidates who could dwarf these parties with their programmes and wide acceptance. Hence, the PDP and APC have held the nation to ransom, sucking national and state treasuries dry while the poor, the disadvantaged, underprivileged people pine away in hunger and penury. But now, there is a dynamic shift for a great change.

The Obidient movement is pulling people who crave for change. The youths, women, men and even children are yearning for the Labour Party to take over Nigeria and the states. As at now, only the few party members who are threatened by the Obidient movement are the ones crying ‘party is supreme’. Party cannot be supreme when Nigerians are hungry and living in darkness. Every part of the nation has become powerfully Obidient and the sound wave is heavily reverberating. A mighty revolution is in progress. Nigeria is about to change and people are about to be happy once again.                                                                                                                        History is about to be made in Nigeria. The tears of crying and suffering Nigerians is about to be wiped away and that is certainly going to be the beginning of a united, peaceful, prosperous, secured and productive Nigeria. This is what Nigerians have been yearning for.

In Delta state, most especially Delta North, a big history is about to be made. The people of Delta North have continuously voted PDP since 1999 till 2019 general elections. But in 2023, a change is coming. A change from the status quo is coming. Delta North can no longer remain the same again. The Anioma people have voted and voted but they have not enjoyed what rightly belongs to them. Constituency projects funds are not utilised, the few projects executed are shoddy, cannot last for a year. And the funds are either shared, diverted or we are made to believe that rats have eaten up the money. As soon as rains descend the projects are washed away. Others are empowered with motorcycles, sewing machines, deep freezers, generators, barbing equipment and others. Thereafter, the poor villagers begin to sing their praises. This is coming to end in Anioma land. What is due to Anioma people must come to them. Government is not for a few in power who even employ the people’s funds to attack them with little provocation.

History is currently in the making. A new sheriff has come to Delta North. The story can no longer be the same. Barrister Kennedy Kanma is in town. His name is sending shivers into their spine. He is the next man being prepared to take over the senatorial position of Delta North in the 2023 election. I made a post on facebook and someone mentioned somebody in another party and that Barrister Kennedy Kanma should wait until that individual finishes his tenure as Senator, Delta North can then consider Kanma to go to Abuja. I know the poster himself knew that he was wrong because he is feeling the pangs of a failed and confused government but because he is a party man he cannot voice out his mind. He is suffering but smiling, even at the point of dying for a failed party. This is the beginning of the end for the ruling parties in Nigeria. Nigerians have chosen a new party and the rush is beating the widest imagination.

He knew that Delta North has not been given a fair representation but he is blinded by party is supreme. But I’m happy that many persons even in the high places and some senior party men have realised that it’s time up for their parties, and here is the beginning of the end for them. 2023 is bound to be a defining year for Nigerians and the Anioma people. We must belt up and take the bull by the horn. We must not allow the jackers and the hyenas to continue in power beyond May 2023. If we do, we have sold ourselves to wicked men who will continue to plunder our economy and fly our wealth to foreign banks. My submission is this: Flush out the expired PDP and APC and enthrone Labour Party men with people oriented vision at the presidency, senate, governorship and others.
