Senator Shehu Sani of Kaduna State has expressed his grievance at Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike’s action of shutting down the campaign office of Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 Presidential candidate of the People Democratic Party(PDP) in the State.
It was gathered that in the early hours of Friday,Rivers State Government ordered the shutting down of Atiku’s campaign office which is located in GRA Port Harcourt.
Sani, while reacting to the incident, condemned the action of the Rivers State government on his twitter handle.
He wrote: “The report of the sealing of the Atiku Abubakar PDP Presidential campaign office in PH is unfortunate and wrong.”
Bring to mind that few weeks ago, Nyesom Wike signed Executive Order 22 which prevents the citing of campaign offices by political parties in residential areas without government approval.
However, the Rivers State PDP presidential campaign council claimed that its media team had requested the state government authorization but has not received a response for several weeks.
PDP PCC, expressed displeasure towards the action of the state Government stating it rubs off on their fundamental right to free expression of interest.
This shutting down comes at a time Wike and other aggrieved Governors (G5) have vowed not to support the 2023 presidential ambition of the PDP candidate, Atiku due to internal crisis within the party.
