Last, in December of every year, the church organises the December retreat where members of the church and others gather in strategic locations for a time with God. The word of God is taught systematically to the people for a period of about four days. People gather in their thousands to hear God’s word.

This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the church abandoned the Easter retreat, because that was when the federal and different state governments pronounced lock down in all parts of the country. The government banned all gatherings, religious, commercial, social, entertainment and clubs.

The church had already planned the Easter retreat and the atmosphere was already getting charged before the federal and state governments banned all gatherings and the church aborted the idea. The church had to obey the federal government because it was for the people who are citizens of the nation.

Many big churches like The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Winners Church, Mountain of Fire and Miracles and many others aborted their programmes so as not to violate government directive and also to avoid people getting infected with the deadly coronavirus. Many events that were designed for the spiritual development of Christians were aborted. And it has lasted for almost four months now.

In this month of August 2020, the Deeper Life Bible Church was supposed to organise the National Youth Success Camp. Youths were supposed to gather in all states and other locations within the states and the federal capital territory, Abuja. It is an annual gathering that youths always look forward to on a yearly basis.

They meet with their friends, exchange ideas, learn from experts both in the church and outside the church. Issues of youth development, principles of success in academics and other social relations. How to serve God in their youthful days are all dished out to them.

They are taught how to relate with each other as students, most especially how boys and girls relate so as not to destroy their future are dished out to them. At the end of the five-day period, the youths go home happy and refreshed. They share testimonies of their experiences in the camp and they are happy.

The coronavirus pandemic has, again, affected this beautiful programme for the youths across Nigeria. It is usually a large gathering of youths of almost the same age group. Since the pandemic is still ongoing, the programme cannot hold this year. All the youths in Nigeria must pray for the country, this coronavirus must go and Nigeria must be free.
