The President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, has announced Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, senator representing Delta North senatorial district, as the vice chairman of the Senate committee on environment.
The announcement was made on Monday, August 7, before the Senate adjourned plenary to September 26, for its long vacation.
Observers have noted that Nwoko’s appointment was strategic, pointing out that the position will significantly enhance his ongoing project, “Malaria Eradication in Africa,” given the strong correlation between malaria and environmental conditions.
In addition to his position as vice chairman of the Senate committee on environment, Senator Nwoko is also slated to participate as a member in the following committees:
1)Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes
2)Capital Market
3)Sustainable Development Goals
4)Drugs and Narcotics
5)Solid Minerals
6)States and Local Governments
7)Rules and Business
8)Youths and Sports
