The governor of Anambra state, Willie Obiano, has said that the Armed Forces has joined other security outfits such as Civil Defence, DSS, Police forces and vigilantes in the state to make Anambra State the most peaceful and safest state in Nigeria in the last seven years.
Dr. Obiano who spoke through the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment of Anambra State, C. Don Adinuba said that the state mourns late Chief of the Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and some officers and soldiers who died in the plane crash on Friday May 21, 2021 at Kaduna Airport to recognize the fact that military duties are sacrificial services carried out to serve the public.
The governor said that a directive has been given for state flag to fly at half -mast in all public facilities in Anambra State from Monday, May 24 to Wednesday, May 27, 2021in respect of the fallen heroes.
He said that, despite the security breaches of the past few months, officers and men of the Armed Forces patrol the streets, towns and villages of the state especially the troubled parts both day and night to ensure peace and tranquility.
He said that the people and government of Anambra State have always been proud of their relationship with the Nigeria Armed Forces.
Gov. Obiano said, “as a result of the safe and peaceful environment, Anambra State has in the last couple of years attracted huge investments worth between four and five billion dollars ($4-5bn) creating products and services as well as direct and indirect employment in various sectors of the state economy.
