A student of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, (FUTO),  Mr. Phillip Brian Otobha, has appealed to the Senate to revisit his petition against some lecturers of the institution over alleged victimisation, extortion and breach of duty.

Otobha, a native of Emede in Isoko South local government area of Delta state, is of the department of Project Management Technology with registration number 20091700346.

He had petitioned the Senate last year, accusing that two lecturers – one Akionbare and Onanuju of stalling his graduation since 2014.

Otobha alleged that the duo threatened to stall his graduation for refusing them of N100,000.00 demand in order to pass their subjects.

According to him, the duo made good their threats by deliberately ensuring that he failed the courses including PRT 504 and PRT 513, after he had worked so hard to secure good grade.

His petition received the attention of the Senate when the Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions invited the concerned parties.

The committee, after hearing from them, ordered the respondents to provide the answer scripts of the petitioner to enable it conclude the matter.

But Otobha is now worried that after over one year of that directive, there has been no response from the institution and the affected lecturers.

He has therefore written another petition to the Senate President as well as the committee, appealing that the matter should be revisited.

The petition signed on his behalf by M.A. Ogbodogbo of M.A. Ogbodogbo law firm, Asaba, thanked the Senate for it’s initial intervention.

“It is from the backdrop of the above that we write this petition to passionately appeal that you use your good office to ensure that justice is not only done to the petition but should be timeously and undoubtedly seen to be done as the life of the petitioner is on the edge of a precipice,” the petition read.
