Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has reaffirmed his administration’s vision to position Anambra as a leading center for technology and tourism in West Africa.
Speaking during an interactive session with members of the Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP-NG) in Awka, Governor Soludo highlighted the significant progress made in the state since he assumed office less than three years ago.
“Anambra is rapidly evolving into a destination for innovation, leisure, and governance excellence,” the governor said.
“The Awka Fun City, for instance, stands as one of the most impressive facilities of its kind in Africa, unmatched in structure, purpose, and experience.”
Governor Soludo also announced that the state government is set to transition to a permanent Government House, dubbed the “Light House,” bringing an end to over three decades of operating from a temporary facility.
“For 34 years, every governor has administered the state from this temporary structure. That ends now,” he stated. “This will be your last visit here. The next time I host you, it will be in the Banquet Hall of the Light House.”
The new Government House complex, located on a 23-acre site, comprises 56 completed structures and represents what the governor described as the bold and forward-thinking spirit of a modern Anambra.
In addition to infrastructural achievements, Governor Soludo emphasized the importance of promoting local industry.
In a lighthearted but pointed comment that drew laughter from the audience, he remarked, “Any beer not brewed in Anambra is just a chemical,” reinforcing his call for support of homegrown products.
Governor Soludo’s remarks underscore a broader agenda to elevate Anambra’s profile as a beacon of development and innovation, not just within Nigeria, but across the West African subregion.
