The Mayor of Urhoboland and ex-militant leader of note in the Niger Delta region, Eshanakpe Israel a.k.a Akpodoro, has condemned the anti Tinubu comment that was credited to Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the 2023 presidential election.
In a statement issued in Abuja Thursday, the Mayor noted with consternation that Alhaji Abubakar is paranoid, envious and jealous of the president’s achievement after barely one year in office.
He added that the customs officer-turned politician is a victim of his unmanageable pains resulting from his defeat at the February 2023 presidential polls describing him as a victim of his inordinate ambition to rule Nigeria at all cost.
Akpodoro stated that if anyone had thought of mortgaging the fortunes of the Nigerian state that person is Alhaji Abubakar and not President Tinubu who is doing his best to exit Nigeria/Nigerians from the rot bequeathed on the political system by the government that Atiku served as Vice President.
He said if not for the dearth of good conscience, Abubakar has no moral rectitude to attack any government in Nigeria” going by the recklessness of the PDP administration under him.
The vociferous Mayor of Urhoboland noted that Nigerians won’t forget the looting and covetiousness under the Bureau of Public Enterprises, BPE that Abubakar supervised in the regime where he held sway and how the country’s assets were sold to vested interests at costs less than their original values as he references Aluminium Smelting Comoany of Nigeria, ALSCON.
He holds the politician in contempt for sales of NITEL, Nigerian Railways and Nigerians Airways devoid of transparency and accountability adding that not even the sacked workers of those establishment were paid a dime causing tears and sorrows to the forcefully evicted workers and the families of those affected by the action of the BPE under Abubakar’s beck and call.
The former warrior said Abubakar represents poor and unpatriotic opposition saying Nigerians know those who have lived their lives to become standards for wanton corruption in the annals of democratic governance in the world’s most populous black nation.
Nigerians, the ex-militant leader, voted overwhelmingly for President Tinubu at the polls due to his sterling qualities and antecedents saying Abubakar’s smear campaign is meant for his scanty followers and not well-meaning Nigerians who he said are appreciative of the bold steps being taken by President Tinubu’s administration.
He noted that the bold steps of the administration of Tinubu are to redirect and exit Nigeria from the woods of retrogression and backwardness that PDP plunged Nigeria in its 16 years of maladministration.
According to the Mayor, in his electioneering campaign both in 2019 and in 2023, Abubakar did not mince words in his willingness to sell off the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, NNPCL if voted to power.
He said: “Atiku is a serial election loser who is used to casting aspersions at every government in power. We were in Nigeria when he became an opposition leader who attacked his government wherein he was the Vice President.
“So, Nigerians are not surprised at his attitudes towards leadership a development which reeks unpatriotism and zero solidarity for the Nigerian state.
“He wants to rule at all cost and we the electorates keep rejecting him each time he’s name was found on the ballot. If he dares come out in 2027, that year will be his worst outing.”
He stressed further: “The Tinubu administration is making bold decisions to yield long-term solutions for Nigeria’s persistent economic challenges, especially cushioning the effects of subsidy removal which the PDP government could not do for 16 years .
“It is implementing transformative policies while ensuring several relief measures, primarily targeting the youths who constitute approximately 76% of Nigeria’s population.
“In all facets of our national life, the Tinubu administration is making giant strides to right the wrongs of the past by ensuring that Nigeria lives her dream and embracing the global economic realities.
“The economy was battered by successive PDP administrations which led our country into economic woes that’s being revived by the present administration.
“We are not unmindful of the fact that Abubakar and his likes are entitled to their envy and jealousy but one thing is sure, President Tinubu won’t spend a day less than eight years as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by which his name will written in gold as the reformer, the builder and founder of a modern Nigeria.
“Abubakar should tell Nigerians how national patrimonies were sold his BPE supervision,” the livid Mayor stated.
